The Ultimate Morning Routine.
Starting your day off on the right foot can set the tone for the rest of your day. By establishing a well-crafted morning routine, you can optimize your productivity, enhance your mood, and increase your overall well-being. We will guide you through a step-by-step morning routine that will help you have the best day possible. Keep in mind if you miss a day don’t be too hard on yourself, remember gradual changes lead to lasting results. Avoid overwhelming yourself with drastic adjustments as it can lead to reverting back to old habits.
Don’t press snooze
The first step to the ultimate morning routine is getting up as soon as your alarm wakes you. If you need to place your phone on the other side of the room to make sure your don’t hit snooze then do it. Make sure you set your alarm to allow yourself enough time to complete your routine without rushing. Waking up early gives you a head start and allows you to ease into the day, reducing stress and anxiety.
Avoid scrolling
We are all guilty of aimlessly scrolling especially when we first open our eyes. All the notifications, emails and social media updates can bombard and overwhelm your mind and hinder your focus to think clearly ahead of your workday. Instead keep a notepad or journal next to your bedside and set three intentions for the day and write down three things you are grateful for.
Make you bed
Making your bed every morning may seem silly to mention but it is a simple habit that can have major positive effects on your productivity for the day. It creates a sense of order and calmness in your room and sets the intention for the day. It also acts as a keystone habit that triggers other good decisions throughout the day such as being motivated and feeling accomplished.
Sunlight
Open a window take a deep breath of fresh air and get sunlight on your eyes, this will help your evening routine as it synchronizes your body clock with the 24-hour day. Specialised cells in your retinas tell your brain to stop making the sleep hormone melatonin and your brain’s master clock sets a sort of internal timer, instructing the body to start making melatonin again about 14 hours later. It triggers the timed release of cortisol, a healthy level of cortisol, into your system, which acts as a wake-up signal and will make you feel more awake and the ability to focus throughout the day.
Move your body
Moving your body in the morning can boost your energy levels and improve your mood. Whether it's a quick workout, yoga session, or a walk, get your body moving to increase blood flow and release endorphins. This will help you feel more alert and ready to tackle the day.
Cold shower
If you are starting your cold water therapy journey have your normal warm shower and turn the water to cold for the last 30 seconds. Each day increase your time in the cold shower until you crave the feeling. While there are many benefits to cold water exposure the key motivation to start your day with a cold plunge or shower is for the dopamine release. The cold water stimulates the feeling of accomplishment and motivation, clearing the mind of negative thoughts. The surge of dopamine leaves you ready to conquer the day ahead energised and focused.
Set Intentions and Prioritise
Before diving into your daily tasks, take a few minutes to set intentions for the day. Reflect on your goals and prioritise your tasks. Create a to-do list or use a planner to organize your day and ensure you stay focused and productive. If you want to be really organised do this the evening before.
By implementing a well-designed morning routine, you can optimize your productivity, enhance your mood, and set the intention for a successful day. Experiment with different activities and find what works best for you. Remember, consistency is key. Stick to your routine and watch as it transforms your mornings and ultimately, your entire day.
